Kashmir Tandoori. Palace Street Canterbury

 Date of visit 8/3/25

This a wonderful Curry House in the heart of Canterbury. I believe it opened in 1976. I will be scoring everything out of 5

Access 4/5

Access is gained to the lower half of the restaurant is gained by access through the main door which has flat access. The building has an accessible toilet which is always clean and tidy. There is a step up to the other half of the restaurant.

Customer Service 5/5

This is a venue we visit as a group regularly. The customer service has always excellent even when we did not visit regularly, the customer service was excellent. I think the last time I had bad customer service experience was probably pre-covid. Everyone is happy to help and very knowledgeable about the content of the restaurant menu. The staff are more than happy to answer questions about the menu.

Quality of  Food 5/5

We ordered

A mushroom Rice

A Chicken Dhansak

A Meat Jalfrazi

Coconut Rice

A Bengal Chicken

Garlic Rice

Cheese Naan

That is a a large amount of food for 3 people, however what we do as a group is have a little sample of everything. It all came out really hot and we could see that serious care had been taken over the preparation. The Jalfrazi the hottest dish my friend who was eating that considered asking for a class of water, he was advised to ask for milk instead. We left him to eat the coconut rice as it is not something I have ever wanted to taste and my brother dislikes coconut.

The mushroom rice was full of pieces of mushroom and really delightfully cooked along with the Chicken Dhansak which had a an amazing smell of spice, the spice was balanced out well the sauce within the dish the chicken was beautifully cooked.

I have a new favourite rice and it is garlic rice, the taste and texture of the rice with an infusion of garlic is wonderful. I had a Bengal Chicken this a dis with tomato and pineapple. On the surface tomato and pineapple should not be in the same dish, however the taste of the 2 items going together is magnificent and when you add in the other spices as well it creates and amazing dish.

The cheese naan

The only problem I find with naan bread is that it cools down quickly, that said the quality of the naan bread was fantastic, rich in cheese not too filling and a fantastic texture.

Price 5/5

What we ordered came to less than £100 and was excellent value for money and today being Monday two days afters the visit my brother and I have been discussing have we had a had a better experience at the Kashmir over the years.

Final Score 19/20
